The Big Picture
Somos, the new taco truck from partners Luis Mendoza and Tony Musleh, is now open at the Yard at 440 E. St. Elmo, bringing Palestinian and Mexican street-food traditions together. The menu folds Middle Eastern elements into familiar taco forms — think za'atar tortillas and hummus paired with barbacoa and lamb birria — and includes halal breakfast tacos, a lamburguesa with halloumi and labneh, and Somos Fries dusted with za'atar. This is a deliberate mashup built from friendships formed when both operators worked next to each other at a South First food-truck park called the Thicket.
What Changed
Mendoza and Musleh moved from being neighboring trucks at the Thicket to business partners at a new location in the Yard. Mendoza, who previously ran Un Mundo de Sabor and moved that operation to Wimberley, collaborated with Musleh of Reem's Falafel to develop dishes that merge their cuisines, such as pan árabe–inspired za'atar tortillas and an Al Habibi Chicken taco served with housemade cucumber labneh. Their partnership formalizes a relationship that started as late-night hummus runs and evolved into a shared menu and business at 440 E. St. Elmo.
