The Big Picture
Late-stage capitalism sometimes looks like a food truck, and sometimes it looks like a candy truck you actually want to follow on Instagram. Bite Size ATX, a custom-built mobile candy truck from Austin couple Faryn and Greg Kinney, launched earlier this month to sell imported Swedish and other European candies around the city. The pair documented the build and brand on social media and say community response after their first post pushed them to move forward.
What Changed
The change is simple: Austin now has a locally based mobile candy retailer where there wasn’t one prominent example before, per founder Faryn Kinney. Greg Kinney converted a truck into a mobile store while Faryn handled marketing, colors and brand identity. The truck’s assortment focuses largely on Swedish imports and other European varieties, and the couple says many options are gluten-free, gelatin-free, dye-free and vegan.
